TANDEM RELEASES DATA MINING SERVER

By CBR Staff Writer

Tandem Computers Inc, soon to be part of Compaq Computers, has announced its DMS Data Mining Server engine, claiming that performance is improved by an order of two over traditional Online Analytical Processing running on NonStop Himalaya servers. DMS pulls data from the NonStop SQL/MP database, encoding it numerically and creating an intermediate data structure. The DMS engine supports various data algorithms and tasks such as decision trees. Available this summer, this is the first deliverable of Tandem’s Object Relational Data Mining Architecture (CI No 3,961) and it uses common bit-map technology to encode and compress data sets along with the NonStop SQL/MP database. Tandem is integrating the engine with client data mining tools from Angoss Software Inc, Data Distilleries Inc, Magnify Inc and Syllogic BV.
