Tandem Computers Inc is celebrating Down Under: it has a $3.1m contract from the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corp in Brisbane for a top-end NonStop Cyclone for comprehensive on-line worldwide travel reservations, supporting 1,200 users worldwide, and accounting and management functions, running Atlas software; the contract also includes a NonStop CLX mid-range system and communications products to provide overseas access to the database from Auckland, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, Munich, New York, Singapore, Tokyo and Toronto; a second Australian agency, WorkCover, The Worker’s Rehabilitation Compensation Corp of the government of South Australia in Adelaide, paid $1.8m for a NonStop Cyclone and the NonStop SQL distributed relational database management system for processing of up to 100,000 transactions daily, including claims, employer insurance premiums and contribution collections, and will support 400 users next May.
