Tandem Computers Inc has brought out a new line of seven Personalikes from its base in Austin, Texas, designed for use either as integrated terminals for its fault-tolerant minis, or as stand-alone units. The new PSX/300 and PSX/200 series range from high-performance workstations,based on the Intel 80386 to a low-cost diskless workstation, based on the 80286, for connection to a local area network. The 15 by 16 by 6 system chassis accomodates all models. The 16MHz 80386-based PSX/300 series comes in two models: PSX/370 with a 70Mb Winchester, PSX/340 with 40Mb disk. The five-model PSX/200 series includes a disklessPSX/200 and a single-floppy PSX/201 for local area networking, plus the 40Mb PSX/240, the 20Mb PSX/220, and an slower 20Mb PSX/220E. The 220 and 240 use 12.5MHz 80286, the others use an 8MHz version. All bar the diskless version include 5.25, 1.2Mb floppy, and all have 1Mb of memory and eight slots, six 16-bit, two 8-bit; 3.5 floppies will also be offered. All include host integration software; terminal emulation and file transfer program; and support for Tandem MultiLAN software. PSX/200s ship fourth quarter 1987, 300s first quarter 1988. The PSX/200 is $1,195; 201 $1,395; 220E $2,395; 220, $2,995; 240, $3,795. The 340 is $4,895, the 370 $5,695.
