TANDEM ADDS NONSTOP SQL

By CBR Staff Writer

Tandem Computers Inc of Cupertino yesterday announced NonStop SQL software for its fault-tolerant computers and claimed it to be the first implementation of the relational model to provide both the performance needed for high-volume on-line transaction processing, and to support fully transparent data distribution. It says that data anywhere in a network of Tandem systems can be read, written or updated with full transaction protection, and the database will always reflect the current state of a business adding that audited benchmarks yielded more than 200 debit/credit transactions per second on 32 NonStop VLX processors with linear performance. Available in the US in the third quarter it is $4,000 plus $500 a month per CPU for NonStop VLX systems, down to $6,000 and $600 a month for EXT10 systems.
