Tandberg unveils provisioning offering for video conferencing

Allows enterprises to deploy its E20 video phones and Movi PC video

By CBR Staff Writer

Tandberg has introduced large-scale provisioning offering that allows enterprises to deploy Tandberg E20 personal video conferencing phones and Movi PC video conferencing.

Utilising new features for the Tandberg Management Suite (TMS), the offering is designed to reduce the cost of ownership by eliminating the time involved in setting up individual devices across large or geographically dispersed organisations, the company said.

Tandberg claims that the large scale provisioning allows organisations of all sizes to deploy out of the box video conferencing offerings that can be provisioned and scaled based on enterprise requirement. This enhances the cost savings promise of visual communications and eases mass deployment of video.

According to Tandberg, the new offering can be deployed in three steps to integration through Tandberg Video Communication Server including, administrator configures policies for video users and imports new user addresses from active directory; users receive an automated email that includes username and password; and users plug in their video system, sign in and are ready to make a video call.

The company said that the new offering is powered by TMS that provides administrators with visibility and control for carrying out operations and monitoring on-site and remote video networks; the Tandberg E20, a business quality personal video conferencing device, which allows integrated video experience; and Tandberg Movi, a video collaboration tool that turns PC into a mobile, high-definition video conferencing system. Paired with the Tandberg PrecisionHD USB camera, Movi enables high definition 720p 30fps video.

In addition, the Video Communication Server (VCS), an infrastructure product designed for video that enables mass provisioning. It connects the benefits of video conferencing and telepresence to other communications environments including unified communications and IP Telephony networks, the company said.

Hakon Dahle, chief technologist of Tandberg, said: “Through our large scale provisioning solution, Tandberg is the first to provide the foundation for a massively scalable and easily deployable enterprise video communications infrastructure. We are delivering greater value for customers of all sizes and making it possible to build large video communities in an extremely efficient manner.”

Software upgrades for the Tandberg TMS, VCS and E20 are expected to be available before year end.
