Tandberg said the deal would give it the resources to expand within the videoconferencing and telepresence markets, as well as target new applications in the broader IP communications industry. Specifically, Codian’s line of enterprise and carrier-class multipoint control units (MCUs), gateways, videoconferencing content servers, and management software would be integrated with Tandberg’s teleconferencing products. Oslo, Norway-based Tandberg also said it would continue to develop each company’s individual product lines, including the Codian MPU platforms and the Tandberg MPS line of MCUs.
UK-based Codian is privately held, was founded in 2002 and employs 107 workers. For the first six months of 2007, it had about $13m revenue.
Tandberg, which employs about 900 workers, said the deal would likely close in the third quarter.
