Community site Talk City Inc, the phoenix that rose from the ashes of Apple Computer Corp’s eWorld online service, has won venture funding from three media giants. NBC, The Hearst Corporation and Cox Interactive Media have each made or increased equity investments in Talk City. As a bonus, Talk City gets to provide community services to their respective online offerings. To ensure convenient access to these media partners, Talk City has opened East Coast headquarters in Manhattan. Intel Corp, CSK Japan and Media Technology Ventures have also joined the list of Talk City’s shareholders, while existing investors New York Life Insurance, Patricof & Co and Soros Fund Management’s Quantum Group have each upped their stakes.
