TakeFive Software GmbH, Salzburg, Austria, is offering a new release 2.2 of its Sniff+ C and C++ development environment, and has built a parser for the Java programming language. It already has parsers for C and C++, and is producing additions for Eiffel, Fortran and Interface Definition Language for Corba 2. Free upgrades will be available for existing Sniff+ users including a new parser applications programming interface so developers can integrate their own proprietary languages, and serve more than one parser at a time. It includes a symbol table application programming interface enabling developers to build custom applications using the underlying symbol information stored in the table. It also has enhancements to browsing, documentation on-line, and a documentation editor that automatically generates documentation in HyperText Mark-up Language. TakeFive says users can mix and match development systems, compiler, debugger and existing tools. Sniff+ 2.2 runs under NetWare and under Silicon Graphics Inc, Santa Cruz Operation Inc, Sun Microsystems Inc, IBM Corp, Digital Equipment Corp and Hewlett-Packard Co Unixes, and and with the new release will also be implemented for Linux. These products will be out by the end of the first quarter, but prices are not yet available.
