Taiwan was one of the countries who claimed they had been unfairly hit with anti-dumping measures aimed at their steel, petrochemical and semiconductor industries.
The group, which included other key tech producers such as Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Hon Kong, said some countries had been using anti-dumping procedures to protect domestic producers in certain industries from competition. They noted that the US and the EU were the most prolific in imposing anti-dumping measures. The number of actions per year had jumped from an average of 138 in the 1980s to 330 per year in the period between 1999 and 2001.
