The rapidly growing Taiwanese business community in Scotland, comprised mainly of executives of high-tech firms, has established a Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in Scotland. The committee includes executives from Allied Precision Co, Delta Electronics, Foxteq UK and Wellveyor Engineering Machine Tools & Tooling. Taiwan firms have contracted investment of more than $500m in Scotland that will create more than 4,000 jobs in the next few years. The latest addition is Taiwan’s Universal Scientific Industrial Company, which is to establish a $24m factory at Irvine. The company’s first manufacturing operation in Europe, the 32,000 square foot factory will make both computer and telecoms products and will also have a design, marketing and customer support center.
