Tadpole Wins First Utility Order

By CBR Staff Writer

Tadpole Technology Plc says its subsidiary Tadpole-Cartesia has won its first order, worth $400,000, from electrical utility ScottishPower. While Tadpole’s core business is portable Unix machines, the Cambridge UK company hopes to build a new revenue stream from portable machines, geared to the needs of utilities, so that workers in the field can link with company intranets. Last month, in a move aimed at bolstering its Cartesia product offering, Tadpole paid $1.25m to acquire Conic Systems Inc, a San Antonio, Texas developer of mobile graphical information systems and mapping software (CI No 3,763). Tadpole shares rose almost 7% to 23.25 pence on news of the its first order.
