TADPOLE BUYS REST OF US SUBSIDIARY, OPENS BOSTON OFFICES

By CBR Staff Writer

As the company suggested last month, Cambridge, UK-based Tadpole Technology Plc is expanding its US operations with the aquisition of its American distributor and the opening of new offices in Boston. Tadpole, which designs and manufactures 32-bit board level Unix products for customers such as Ericsson, Plessey and British Telecom, opened a subsidiary operation in Dublin, California back in August last year and took 35% of the company’s equity. It has now acquired the outstanding equity in Tadpole Technology Inc, and is relocating the company from Dublin to San Jose (well would you believe a company if it said it lived in Dublin, California?). The new Boston location will be used by Tadpole as its international marketing headquarters as well as its Eastern region sales office. Chairman Bob Gilkes claimed that half of Tadpole’s business was now coming from the US: this has led us to develop our American activity earlier than originally anticipated. Tadpole recently announced products using Motorola’s 88000 RISC chip set.
