Showing the beneficial effects of its radical cost-cutting measures, Tandem Computers Inc is able to report higher profits even as turnover declines (see page seven): chief executive James Treybig told analysts after the figures came out that the company expects record earnings for its current fiscal year, which ends in September: our new parallelNonStop Himalaya K10000 servers showed greater than 50% unit growth over last quarter’s excellent initial shipments, he said; Ungermann-Bass delivered record revenues for the quarter of $96.8m or 7% over the 1993 quarter with pre-tax profit of $2.4m, against a loss of $5.6m a year ago.
