Marking the final dismantlement of Olivetti’s dreams of a pan-European retail computer chain, TABS Ltd of Salisbury has bought back the 48% or so stake taken by Olivetti in 1984 with a view to making the firm the backbone of its UK network. TABS, now controlled by management, has backed off from franchising and will concentrate on software.
