Tablet PC firm attracts $25 million in funding

Tablet PC maker Motion Computing Inc has raised an impressive $25 million in a round of series C funding. Institutional Venture Partners and New Enterprise Associates led the financing with a combined investment of $23.5 million.

By CBR Staff Writer

Motion has raised a total of nearly $43 million in funding since August 2002. The Austin, Texas-based company bills itself as a market leader in ultramobile computing and associated wireless communication peripherals – targeting the healthcare, field sales, education and government sectors.

It recently launched its third-generation tablet PC called Motion M1400.

After a year of solid growth in 2003, tablet PC sales slowed down dramatically in 2004, particularly in the EMEA region. But this year’s modest growth hasn’t stopped industry analysts forecasting long-term potential.
