Airbus, which is a partnership between EADS and BAE Systems, is in the process of consolidating its data centers in England, France and Germany. From the beginning of 2004, T-Systems will be in charge of the mainframes in the three countries for a period of five years. T-Systems will also run remote helpdesks for Airbus’s 42,000 PC users from centers in Hamburg and Toulouse.

This is the third large contract that Airbus has awarded to an external IT services provider in recent weeks. It has also contracted Indian offshore services provider HCL Technologies Ltd to develop sophisticated embedded software for its flight warning system. Atos Origin SA, meanwhile, is providing software and systems integration services for its A380 aircraft.
