T-Mobile goes 3G, kind of

Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile unit, together with Siemens, has begun the roll-out of its German 3G network. The company plans to cover 20 major cities by the end of the year.

Today’s technical UMTS launch shows us again to be a leading innovator in the mobile sector, Deutsche Telekom’s CEO Ron Sommer told the press.

However, the network is currently just in a testing phase. T-Mobile is not expected to launch consumer 3G services this year.
