Systems Leasing Corp, Phoenix, Arizona, has signed an OEM agreement with Storage Technology Corp, Louisville, Colorado, to market StorageTek’s high-performance, nine-track tape subsystems to the Sperry systems side of the Unisys Corp market. Systems Leasing claims to be the world’s largest third-party lessor and marketer in the Sperry marketplace, but its message will not be particularly welcome to Unisys, because it will stress that since the drives are IBM- as well as Sperry 1100-compatible, users need not feel locked into the Unisys hardware forever. Systems Leasing describes itself as heavily staffed with former Sperry top man-agement and marketing people, and adds that over the past six months, it has been using its knowledge of the Sperry market and the Sperry customer lease base to embark on a number of compatible expansion moves.
