Stephen F Smith will take over in the position with effect from June 30 of this year, the start of SYSCO’s financial year.
Smith is currently president and CEO of Sysco Food Services of Central Florida. He assumes his responsibilities from O Wayne Duncan, 64, who will retire from the company.
Smith joined SYSCO in 1980 as a manager of multi-unit accounts in Jackson, Mississippi. He was appointed to his current position in 1995, and has served on the company’s Directors’ Council, Merchandising Council and Operations Council.
