SYNOPTICS COMMUNICATIONS GOES TO THE FAIR …

By CBR Staff Writer

SynOptics Communications Inc, which is going to the fair – it plans to decamp from its present home in Mountain View and hang out its shingle in the Great American Corporate Center in Santa Clara, California, presumbly attached to the Great America theme park, Silicon Valley’s one major entertainment complex, says it has technology to run the Fiber Disbributed Data Interface networking protocol over IBM Type 1 shielded twisted pair cable at distances of at least 330 feet, so that fibre optic cabling can be confined to the trunks with twisted pair used to link workstations to the network: it is to present the technology at the American National Standards Institute meet in Wichita, Kansas next week.
