By CBR Staff Writer

Synopsys Inc of Mountain View, California, has split its chip design tools into two products lines – the VHDL System Simulator family now consists of VSS Professional and VSS Expert; the former enables users to develop models in the pre-synthesis stage and verify them, while the latter includes all the features of Professional plus a gate-level simulation engine, system modelling support and ASIC vendor-sign off support – the latter is expected from NEC Corp, Toshiba Corp, Texas Instruments Inc and Thesys Inc; the packages cost $16,250 and $30,000 respectively and will be shipped by April 1994.
