Synopsys expands portfolio of verification IP for storage protocols

NVMe VIP protocol can be integrated with ExpertIO PCI Express verification IP

By CBR Staff Writer

Semiconductor company Synopsys has introduced verification IP (VIP) for Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe), a storage protocol for connecting solid state drives (SSDs) to the PCI Express interface.

The company expands its portfolio in verification IP for storage protocols by adding NVMe to its serial ATA (SATA) and serial attached SCSI (SAS) verification IP.

A command set, queuing layer and register interface optimised for PCI Express-based SSDs are provided by NVMe.

The semiconductor company’s recently acquired ExpertIO enables NVMe verification IP and the protocol can be integrated with ExpertIO PCI Express verification IP.

Intel Storage Technologies Group principal engineer NVM Express Working Group chairman Amber Huffman said NVM Express is a key enabler for high-performance PCIe SSDs.

"The availability of verification IP for NVM Express at this stage of development will enable faster adoption of this exciting new technology," said Huffman.
