Larkspur, California-based Synon Inc has been fleshing out details of release 5.0 of the Synon/2 product family (CI 2,633). It has added an impact analysis module that enables developers to determine how changing any object in the Synon design model will affect other objects. The resulting model object list can be saved for subsequent actions, such as edit, generate and compile. Another enhancement is the integration of multi-level impact analysis and function versioning, with Synon/CM to provide an integrated, automated change management environment. Synon/CM is a change management module that gives developers the ability to manage and distribute changes to an application at the design model level and maintain integrity with generated source and object code. There is also a Windows interface generator courtesy of client-server generators, Synon/CSG, for Microsoft Windows and OS/2, that work in tandem with Synon/2E to generate distributed function co-operative processing applications. Synon is offering special leasing terms for Synon/2E 5.0; one week of education, an on-site mentor and a year of technical support is available for an initial price of $14,000 plus monthly payments.
