Synology America, a provider of Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers, has launched the DS411slim DiskStation for home and small office use.
According to the company the new DiskStation comes with 2.5" drives, the compact form-factor DiskStation that enables full RAID redundancy while minimising energy usage and noise.
Users can create redundant volumes up to 3TB using Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR). The DiskStation consumes less than 17 watts in use, and 9.6 watts of energy in hibernation, the company said.
Synology said that the DS411slim is a feature-rich network attached storage offering, as it comes with DiskStation Manager (DSM) 3.0 and also fits in the palm of one hand.
In addition to the file sharing and backup, DSM 3.0 also includes an integrated DLNA-certified media server to stream music and videos to compatible media players.
The new product also comes with Surveillance Station 5, a Synology’s network video recorder (NVR) software, which lets users to turn their DiskStation into a surveillance system.
Synology America product marketing manager Jason Bonoan said from the breadth of integrated features to the ease of remote access, this comprises an incredible suite of offerings that mere DAS devices just can’t match.
