SYMBOLICS’ IVORY CHIP ENABLES A COMPLETE COMPUTER TO BE IMPLEMENTED ON A SINGLE BOARD

By CBR Staff Writer

Symbolics Inc points out that its claim for its new Ivory chip that it is the first single-chip implementation of a symbolic processor is based on the fact that it enables a complete computer to be implemented on a single board, where the Texas Instruments microprocessor requires two boards (CI No 685); and lousy timing? The announcement would have rated a top-of-the-page spot across two columns had it not been made on a day when IBM, as is its wont, swept all before it.
