The firm named the malware Skulls. It is available for download posing as an extended theme manager on shareware sites but is non-viral. F-Secure said it had received isolated reports of infections.

Skulls exploits a feature of the Symbian OS that replaces files in the ROM with files in the C: drive that have the same name and filename. The malware replaces system files with files identical but for their application info and icon.
