Group product manager Howard Lev said the new Clientless VPN Gateway 4400 series has had a relatively major overhaul in terms of performance and functionality, and has had the pricing structure simplified since it was the SEA Tsunami.

Symantec will sell the boxes in 1U and 2U formats, as the 4420 and 4460, with up to 350 or 1,000 supported users respectively. Discounted upgrades will be available for former SafeWeb customers, and support will be continued, Lev said.

Pricing will be based on supported concurrent sessions, starting at $9,495 for 50. Lev said that unlike rivals, and SafeWeb, Symantec will not charge add-on fees for additional levels of application or protocol support.

Lev also said the version 3.0 of the Symantec Security Gateway, which combines many perimeter security functions in one box, will include the SCVG features and is scheduled to ship a year from now. There will not be any upgrades in the meantime.
