Symantec offers small business spam options

Symantec Corp's latest small business anti-spam systems are to be marketed in the shape of an appliance form factor, as software or sold as a hosted service.

By CBR Staff Writer

As well as being designed to fend off spam and viruses, the new Symantec Mail Security 8220 appliance includes an email firewall, traffic shaping, content filtering, and various content compliance features.

Organizations can choose to deploy the software alternative in the form of Symantec Brightmail AntiSpam for Small Business, or go for a hosted version with Symantec Hosted Mail Security for Small Business. All options are to become immediately available through the usual channels.

It is said that as many as 20% of small businesses have yet to deploy virus scanners to secure incoming email.
