Its first fiscal quarter saw profit down to $94.8m from $198.6m a year ago. At the per-share level, that was $0.09, but non-GAAP earnings, which excludes some items, was $0.24.

Non-GAAP revenue was $1.28bn, up 2% on the year.

The company’s consumer business was 30% of total revenue, growing 6%, led mainly by online sales of Norton Internet Security. Symantec’s flagship accounted for 53% of consumer sales, growing 47%.

On the enterprise side, Symantec reports three business divisions. Data center management was flat, representing 27% of total revenue, and security and data management was 38% of total revenue and down 2%. Services were up 18%, but only represented 5% of revenue.
