Symantec continues to expand services

Symantec has announced two new sets of offerings from its growing services division for security risk management and antivirus protection.

By CBR Staff Writer

The first of these is what the company calls operational services, under which enterprises can outsource portions of their infrastructure functions to Symantec. These aren’t full-scale infrastructure outsourcing services; instead, they include high-risk areas such as backup and recovery processes, monitoring, and data protection services.

These are covered under service level agreements and can be delivered remotely, onsite, or through a blended model, Symantec said in a statement.

The second new set of services is Symantec’s residency services. These staff augmentation offerings are more traditional consulting engagements, using fee-based pricing, whereby Symantec consultants join up with a customer’s own IT staff.

The services are available for data protection, which includes backup and recovery, data protection assessment, and emergency response. There’s also an antivirus offering, covering functions such as data capture, incident analysis and reporting.
