Sycamore Networks has introduced IQstream, an answer to the service challenges posed by rapid mobile data growth in the Radio Access Network (RAN).

According to Sycamore Networks, IQstream mobile broadband optimisation offering enables operators ensure multimedia experience for their subscribers by dramatically reducing congestion in the access network; and significantly lowers the cost of delivering mobile broadband services by freeing up capacity in the cost-sensitive RAN.

The company said that the IQstream is powered by Adaptive Content Optimisation technology and advanced learning algorithm. It dynamically adapts to mobile data traffic patterns, including peak usage periods and flash events that allows operators to significantly reduce operational expenses, defer costly network upgrades, and dramatically improve the economics of their mobile data offerings.

The company said that IQstream will be generally available in Q4 2010.
