The company will announce its Unwired Accelerator, designed to bring back-office applications to a range of handheld devices through point-and-click development, and Unwired Orchestrator to build and monitor business processes.
Unwired Accelerator brings back-office applications to Blackberry, PocketPC, Palm, Sybase and Symbian using a series of templates and ability to connect to ODBC and JDBC data sources. Patent pending technology provides for voice capture and natural language interfaces to applications.
Sybase’s development tools also feature a patent pending content capture tool to web-enable certain areas of corporate web sites, as opposed to using an engine that squeezes content to fit mobile devices.
Sean McCleary, senior product manger for Sybase enterprise portal eBusiness division, said one of Unwired Accelerator’s biggest advantages is the use of point-and-click to undertake development, opening the technology to those without coding backgrounds.
We are helping business analysts repurpose information for a multitude of devices, McCleary said.
Unwired Orchestrator, meanwhile, allows managers to create business processes that are displayed as icons and which can be accessed through a right-click of the mouse. Sybase believes Unwired Orchestator will help business mangers more easily build processes for web-based delivery to mobile devices, stepping beyond web-based delivery of content to desktop and laptop PCs.
