Trinzic Corp, the Palo Alto, California-based combination of Aion Corp with AICorp, has announced an agreement with Sybase Inc, Emeryville, California under which the latter will integrate Trinzic’s Infohub middleware product with its own OmniSQL gateway. In the light of Sybase’s proposal to acquire Boulder, Colorado-based Micro Decisionware Inc (CI No 2,343), which licenses Trinzic’s technology, the agreement may seem like something of a non-event, but it is part of an attack on the gateway community by Trinzic, which is openly attacking IBM Corp, Digital Equipment Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co and other mainframe to personal computer gateway vendors. Trinzic is also working at connection from the other end, writing a front-end developer to queer the pitches of Gupta Corp and Powersoft Inc. This should be available in four months’ time, Trinzic says. The Infohub and Infopump products are designed to link up heterogeneous environments and are championed by Trinzic as a load and go method of translating non-relational mainframe legacy data into relational personal computer formats. The company’s middleware products are based on technology that it acquired with Channel Computing Inc, the company it bought in April last year (CI No 2,141). The company still makes 95% of its revenue from its Business Process Reengineering products expert systems to you and me – which include AionDS and the AICorp KBMS Knowledge-Based Management System.
