Sybase Inc says it sees stronger database server growth in its third quarter, helping to erase the controversy over the 36% growth figure from the second quarter where sales had been growing 60% earlier in the year: chairman and chief executive Mark Hoffmann said the second-quarter figure doesn’t represent a fundamental shift in the company’s business – more important wsa the combination of growth in communications products and server products, which Hoffmann said was strong; more representative as well, the company increased the number of sites at which it does business by 81% in the second quarter, and Sybase continues to take market share away from its competition – he put the company’s current market share at 19% to 20% and added that he projects Sybase will continue to gather share in the near future.
