SYBASE, PLANETWORKS PARTNER FOR MAINFRAME INTEGRATION

By CBR Staff Writer

Sybase Inc said Friday it has partnered with PlanetWorks to include new application integration features in its enterprise application server that will enable developers to build applications to access data from CICs, Tuxedo and IBM MQ environments much quicker than before. Under the partnership, Sybase said Planetworks has enabled its Interspace tools and middleware to work on the database vendor’s application server platform. Now developers can automatically generate wrapper code that surrounds the application components and enables them to connect more easily to the back-end system, said Jennifer Johnson, group manager, business development for Sybase. There were applications for Sybase’s application server that could access data from CICs, Tuxedo and MQ Series systems before, Johnson said, but developers had to go through a cumbersome manual process of hand-coding connections to back-end operational systems. Now that process can be done automatically, she said.
