US database and software vendor Sybase Inc has chosen the LibraryXpress backup library from Overland Data, Inc as its standard at both its headquarters, in Emeryville, California, and its operations around the world. The company has already installed 60 modules of the library at HQ, its weekly backup load of 2.4 terabytes making it already the largest implementation of LibraryXpress worldwide, and will now be installing it at its other corporate sites. Nick Charles, Overland’s sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the importance of Sybase’s decision is that it vindicates the strategy of modularity and scalability his company has factored into its flagship product, which prompted its selection over competing solutions from companies including StorageTek.
