A Swedish web store selling spirits, wine, food, tools and building materials imported from Germany closed down last week because the German warehouse could not handle the sudden influx of orders. Company manager Jens Malm of the Pegit Web store says it will open as soon as the Germans have caught up with the orders. Malm claims he has found a legal way around Sweden’s strict import regulations regarding spirits and cigarettes, which accounts for the huge increase in orders. Malm says EU rules makes it perfectly legal for private citizens to buy booze and smokes from abroad and have them transported home without paying Swedish tax and duties above those already paid in Germany.
