According to research by Frost & Sullivan, the US market for 3D animation software is due to grow by 12% into the next century. The market had revenues of $185.6m in 1997 with the games and broadcasting markets being the largest components. However, Frost & Sullivan expect this to alter by 2004, when they predict revenues will be $413.8m. The profile of a user of 3D software will change over this period, where currently a typical user is a designer creating games or broadcasting content, the next century will see a boom in corporate and home use to create presentations, modeling, training, or web pages.
