Super Micro Computer (Supermicro) has released first line of 8-core, 4-way Xeon servers optimised for Intel Xeon processor 7500 series and feature up to 256GB memory.
The company claims that the new 8-core 8016B-6F, 8016B-TF, 8026B-6RF, 8026B-TRF, 8046B-6RF and 8046B-TRF SuperServers offer 93%+ energy efficiency and robust enterprise virtualisation performance.
According to Supermicro, all servers are based on X8QB6-F and X8QBE-F serverboards and support up to 256GB of registered ECC DDR3 memory via 32 DIMM slots. The 8016B-6F is particularly optimised for high performance computing cluster (HPCC) applications, while the 8016B-6F, 8026B-6RF and 8046B-6RF servers include up to four PCI-E Gen 2.0 slots, and onboard 6Gb/s SAS controller with hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and 60 support.
The 8016B-6F, 8026B-6RF and 8046B-6RF servers also offer onboard IPMI 2.0 with media and KVM-over-LAN support for optimal remote management and feature 90%+ power efficient VRMs. They also support performance optimised for 130-watt to high-density rack-optimised 95-watt SKUs, the company said.
