Sun Microsystems Inc’s SunSoft Inc is gradually building up the functionality of its SolarNet personal computer local network-to-Solaris networking environment, last week adding personal computer Server Services, which enable Novell Inc NetWare users to access and share Solaris-based applications, files, print services and Internet access. After long months in gestation, SunSoft finally unveiled the first SolarNet pieces last October, which in addition to personal computer server services include PC-Admin network administration, PC-NFS/PC-NFSpro personal computer-to-TCP/IP communications software, the Age Logic Inc-licensed PC-X personal computer to X Window System and Protocol services, the NetWare Internet Packet Exchange/Sequential Packet Exchange-compatible communications stack for Solaris. PC Server Services costs from $1,400 with 10 user connections and supports only Solaris 2.3 or above.
