SunSelect Inc has introduced version 5.1 of its PC-NFS personal computer-based communications product, which enables personal computer users to access data on Unix or VMS machines or IBM Corp mainframes over TCP/IP from MS-DOS or Windows. SunSelect says that version 5.1 can be installed in a single step and that the need to separate installation programs for Windows has been eliminated. It uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for automatically configuring clients and supports Domain Name Service in addition to its NIS Network Information Service. SunSelect says PC-NFS 5.1 enables users to access the Internet from individual personal computers. It comes with a new interface for Windows Telnet and expanded printer support. Prices go from $325 per user.
