SUN’s SUNEXPRESS ARRIVES IN EUROPE, STARTING OFF IN THE UK

The SunExpress subsidiary of Sun Microsystems Inc in Methuen, Massachusetts has extended its operations to Europe, establishing SunExpress Europe in Bagshot, Surrey. Offices will also be opening in France and Germany. Operational by June this year, SunExpress aims to provide a local European channel of distribution to support users and resellers. Headed by Paul Musson, general manager, sales and distribution will be based on the continent while the management team will remain in the UK. It is going to try and bag a few independent software vendors and resellers for Unix this week at the Comdex Spring show in Chicago: Sunsoft, Santa Cruz Operation Inc, Unix System Laboratories Inc, Univel Inc and Unix International Inc are co-hosting an open house for attendees and exhibitors this week at the McCormick Centre Hotel. Representatives from Oracle Corp, Lotus Development Corp, Novell Inc and distributor Ingram Micro will be going along as cheerleaders.
