SunGard Data Systems Inc, the acquisitive disaster recovery and investment support systems firm, is merging three of its wholly- owned subsidiaries, including its recent Infinity Financial Technology Inc acquisition (CI No 3,258) into one company, to be called Infinity. The other two subsidiaries are Renaissance Software Inc and SunGard Capital Markets. The new company will provide enterprise applications for financial trading, risk management and operations to banks, asset managers, corporate and government treasuries, for management of returns and risks. The merger will enable SunGard to capitalize on market opportunities resulting from the explosive growth in financial instruments, the intensifying regulatory scrutiny of the financial sector and the shift from proprietary to packaged systems, the company said.
