Sunbelt to acquire Kerio personal firewall

Windows system administration and security tools developer Sunbelt System Software Inc has paid an undisclosed sum for the personal firewall assets of Kerio Technologies Inc, a developer of secure mail servers for Linux, Windows and Mac operating systems for the small and mid-cap business market.

By CBR Staff Writer

The deal, which is expected to close before the end of the year, will result in the personal firewall product being incorporated into Sunbelt’s desktop security line, and Kerio concentrating on enterprise sales of its MailServer and WinRoute Firewall.

Sunbelt earlier this year acquired web spidering and spyware sniffer technology from Prospect Smarter Inc, a Tampa, Florida-based supplier of marketing automation software and services to small and mid-sized businesses.
