A proliferation of different buses seems to be characteristic of the major minicomputer and workstation companies led by DEC, and Sun Microsystems Inc will reportedly follow suit with the next models in the Sun-4 line of Sparc-based machines. According to Computer Systems News, the next Sun-4, to be built around the high-end CMOS Cypress Semiconductor Corp implementation of the Sparc will use a new bus architecture for higher memory performance.
