Sun Microsystems Inc is now ready with version 1.0 of the Java Sound, 3D, 2D and Media Player application programming interfaces (APIs) and the Java sound Engine, which together make up what Sun calls the Java Media and Communications technologies. Sun licensed the two sound elements from the California-based Headspace Inc. The APIs enable developers to include things like speech 3D graphics and streaming video in their application, while staying true to the Java line (CI No 3,135).
