Sun Microsystems Inc is increasing efforts to promote its Window-System X11/News interface to developers by introducing Newsware, a response and electronic mail service that will provide information about the Unix interface. Sun hopes that the development of applications will be speeded up through Newsware, which will be made available over General Electric Information Services’ backbone network. The response service will support the Open Look graphical user-interface, and according to Sun, will be available to resellers before the end of the first quarter. Using the information service, Sun hopes, developers will find that questions about the Unix interface will be answered immediately, enabling them to write applications more quickly.
