Sun Microsystems Inc is now preaching co-existence with Windows NT, rather its replacement. It says it will develop additional connectivity and interoperability products. Sun CEO Scott McNealy says that Sparc/Solaris and Intel/NT are the only real server games in town for ISVs – Windows and Java on the desktop. Can you imagine trying to raise venture funding for an HP-UX, VMS, OS/2 or Macintosh start-up? It’s a Coke versus Pepsi world and we don’t see much RC Cola anymore, McNealy says, referring to other Unix operating systems.
