SUN PLANS TO TRAIN AND CERTIFY UK RESELLERS FOR THREE SERVICE LEVELS

By CBR Staff Writer

Sun Microsystems Ltd, the UK wing of the Mountain View, California company, is introducing a training and certification programme for its UK resellers. The Competency 2000 scheme is a three-tier certification programme that results in authorised resellers having a piece of paper they can show customers to prove they have the requisite skills needed to sell Sun systems. The entry-level certificate, available now from Sun and expected to be gained by all its UK resellers, has been called Expert Level 1000 and covers training and skills in desktop systems. From January 1, Sun resellers selling medium-sized workgroup systems will be able to apply for the intermediate Expert Level 1500, with only the top echelons, those selling enterprise systems, eligible for the top certificate, the Expert Level 2000, to be launched on April 1. The sales and technical training required to gain one of these certificates will be provided by Sun and its training partners, particularly Sun master reseller Technology Plc. Technical skills are to be verified by Drake Training & Technology.
