IntraWare Inc, the software distribution and information company is expected to announce a relationship with the Sun Microsystems Inc-Netscape Communications Corp alliance tomorrow, April 20 whereby it will distribute the e-commerce software the venture is developing. IntraWare has been a long-time seller of Netscape’s software and earlier this year trend its relationships with the company, now owned by America Online Inc. It also distributes some of Sun’s Solaris products. IntraWare takes a cut ranging between 10% and 40% – with an average of 24% – for distributing software using its proprietary compression and distribution methods. It also provides research and other information related to the software it distributes. IntraWare president and CEO Peter Jackson says the company has no intention of entering the application service provider market, which is aimed at smaller users than the companies that comprise IntraWare’s customer base.
